The origin of word Propolis is Greek and it means “to defend the city”. It is also called bee glue and generated from resins, tree sap and balsams.
The bees use it to seal the cracks and gaps of the boxes of the hives, generating a small entrance that only them can access and they also act as a natural fungicide barrier.
Propolis has a great medicinal property and it acts as a fungicide, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-ulcer and improves immunity.
We have green Propolis extract which derives from Rosemary (Baccharis dracunculifolia) resin and we also have brown propolis which derives from Aroeira do Sertao (Myracrodruon urundeva) tree sap, now this is under intense study, but it shows much more healing power and properties than the green propolis.
